FIUME AT THE SCALA THEATRE

The Scala Theatre Museum, as part of the events for the birth centenary of the painter Salvatore Fiume (1915-1997) dedicates this exhibition (January 15 – April 20) to Fiume as set and costume designer for the Scala. Sketches and ten costumes designed by him for this theatre between 1952 and 1967, regarding operas like The Short Life by Manuel De Falla (1952), Medea by Luigi Cherubini (1953), Nabucco by Verdi (1958), and Wilhelm Tell by Rossini (1959) are on display. The exhibition is enriched with a few paintings by Salvatore Fiume from the private collection of his children, Luciano and Laura and four Fiume sketches (1992) for Bizet’s Carmen which never went into production.
