This section contains a group of works carried out by Salvatore
Fiume in the years 1984-1987 using the fresco technique. Thanks
to the effect of the so-called 'tearing off' technique that
allows a painting to be transferred from a wall surface to
a canvas, the works from this cycle look like ancient archaeological
findings. In the case of some paintings inspired by Pompeian
art (not reproduced on this site), Fiume used two successive
tears, the second of which achieves a corroded and rarefied
painting that seems to date back to the distant past.
