The exhibition, entitled Salvatore Fiume: A Nonconformist of the 20th Century, was divided by themes and periods, was displayed through six rooms and touched all the most significant moments of Salvatore Fiume’s artistic journey with works from the Fondazione Fiume. Fiume mastered various forms of expression: painting, sculpture, stage design, architecture, verse and prose. He did not like to follow the fashions of the moment as he preferred to be loyal to his own pictorial ideal deriving from his classical education. This did not prevent him from developing an original and independent personality, which in turn allowed him to create images that are recognizable as only his. So, he can rightfully be defined as a nonconformist of the 20th Century. The catalogue of the exhibition contains original contributions by Luca Beatrice, Flaminio Gualdoni, and Elena Pontiggia.
