PORTRAITS

Since 1929

Educated at the great school of the 16th Century portrait painters and an admirer of portraitist Goya, Fiume started very young – first drawing and then painting – to portray family and friends as well as historical and eminent figures of culture and entertainment. In 1989 he also carried out a cycle of portraits entitled The Imaginary Ancestors while in 1973 he painted his African Mona Lisa, now in the Vatican Museums, which is a clear tribute to Leonardo. This was followed by another tribute to Leonardo: the Japanese Mona Lisa.
