GUIDED VISITS TO THE OLD SILK MILL

The old silk mill is a 19th Century four-storey building where Fiume produced large paintings and sculptures and which still hosts a considerable number of his works. The old wood burning kiln used by Fiume to produce his cycle of ceramic works is still there. Beside accessing his private studio and part of his private home, visitors have the opportunity of viewing works from all his vast production: paintings, sculptures, drawings, ceramics and architectural models. An area of the building still preserves the printing equipment used by Fiume to produce his graphic works. The building also hosts the studio of Fiume’s daughter Laura, who is also an artist, and various works by her are on display (paintings, ceramics, design prototypes, etc.). Guided visits, lasting about 2 hours in all, include a DVD introduction of about 45 minutes explaining Fiume’s unique personal story and cultural journey. The ideal number of visitors is up to 18 people. Larger groups should access the visit in different rounds. The old silk mill is near the Asso rail station which is the terminus of the Ferrovie Nord Milano- Asso line from Cadorna Station. Trains arrive and depart hourly.
