DRAWING

At the age of eight Fiume began to devote himself to drawing with great passion and an extraordinary commitment. This allowed him to acquire an outstanding technique which enabled him to portray any single subject of his choice as well as whole crowds of characters (men, women, animals, and furnishings) seen from any possible perspective. His deep compositional preparation, which is obvious in his whole production, did in fact derive from his thorough study of drawing. In Urbino Fiume also learned a number of printing techniques such as etching, lithography, serigraphy, and xylography which where instrumental for the beginning of his initial career as an illustrator in Milan. The passion for drawing accompanied him throughout his life and his extremely varied production contains very delicate drawings as well as strong and incisive ones.
