Another important event of the Centenary will be the exhibition entitled “Fiume at the Vatican”, in the Modern Art Section of the Vatican Museums (September 2015). On the path leading to the Sistine Chapel, two rooms will be opened to host a selection of works from the Vatican Collection of Salvatore Fiume’s works. Form April 16 to May 23 the historic Artesanterasmo Gallery of Milan that has collaborated to all the most important events organized by the Fondazione, will dedicate a precious Retrospective to some of the best known and most appreciated themes of Salvatore Fiume’s production. The final event of the Centenary will be the exhibition at the Serrone Wing of the Royal Palace of Monza (December 2, 2015 – January 6, 2016) entitled “Salvatore Fiume: Italy of Myths (the great works 1950 – 1960)”. In it ten large paintings, lent by the Regione Umbria, that Fiume carried out in 1949-1952 in a neo Fifteenth Century style will be exhibited together with the large painting Mythical Italy (15m x 3m). The latter, painted in the same style, was commissioned to him by architect Gio Ponti in 1950 for the Giulio Cesare transatlantic liner, just one year before he also asked him to carry out the huge painting called The Legends of Italy (48m x 3m) for the Andrea Doria liner. The Spazio Fiume at Palazzo Lombardia will also be opened during the exhibition at the Serrone in Monza. This will give the public the opportunity to admire the thirteen large works donated to the Regione Lombardia by Fiume’s children between 2012 and 2013. A seminar on Salvatore Fiume, to be held in October, is being planned by the Università degli Studi of Milan.
